Terms

Our Terms of Service

Your rights and responsibilities when you use GoingDutch — the app, a plan page in your browser, or the partner portal.

Draft — pending legal review. This text describes the new GoingDutch platform and is not yet in force.

Draft of 25-09-2026

These terms (“Terms”) apply to the GoingDutch app, the plan pages on going-dutch.com and the partner portal (together the “Service”), offered by GoingDutch B.V. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. Partners who use the portal also have a separate agreement with GoingDutch; where it differs, that agreement applies.

1. What GoingDutch is

GoingDutch helps groups plan an evening out and split its costs. With it you can:

  • Create events, suggest dates and places, and vote on them
  • Share a plan by link, so others can answer in their browser without an account
  • Create groups and chat with their members
  • Keep track of shared costs in a Splitter and settle up with each other

Some plans start from a venue or partner (for example a cinema) through its QR code or link. The choices on such a plan come from that partner’s programme; booking and payment happen on the partner’s own website, under its own terms.

GoingDutch is not a bank and not a payment service provider. It does not hold or transfer money.

2. Age

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian allows you to use the Service.

3. Your account and signing in

You sign in with your mobile number: we text you a one-time code. There is no password and no sign-in with e-mail, Apple or Google.

You can answer a shared plan in your browser without an account, with only a first name. Some plans ask you to confirm your mobile number with a code so that your answer counts. If you later sign in to the app with the same number, you can add those plans to your account.

Keep your phone and codes to yourself: whoever can receive your texts can sign in as you. You are responsible for what happens through your account. Use your own number only.

4. Rules of conduct

You may not:

  • Bully, intimidate, threaten or spread hate
  • Post illegal content or help others do something illegal
  • Post sexually explicit or violent content
  • Send spam or unsolicited commercial messages, or add people to groups who do not want to be there
  • Use someone else’s number, or try to hack, overload or disrupt the Service

5. Your content

You are responsible for what you post: event details, votes, chat messages, group names and expenses.

Your content stays yours. You give GoingDutch a limited licence to store, process and show it to the people you share it with, only to run the Service.

What you share in a plan, group or Splitter is visible to its other members, and stays visible to them after you delete your account (shown as “Deleted user”).

We may remove content or restrict an account that breaks these Terms. You can report content or people to support@going-dutch.com.

6. Splitting costs and payments

The Splitter helps you keep track of who paid what and who owes whom. Paying each other is an arrangement between you: you pay by bank transfer or through a payment link that the person you owe has added.

GoingDutch:

  • Does not hold, receive or transfer money
  • Does not check or guarantee that anyone pays
  • Is not responsible for disagreements about amounts or repayments

You cannot delete your account while you still owe money or are owed money in a Splitter; settle up first.

7. Partners

When a plan starts from a partner, the partner receives only totals about how its QR codes and links are used (for example how many plans were started and how many groups chose an option). It does not see your name, your number or your answers.

Tickets, prices and availability are the partner’s; GoingDutch is not a party to your purchase.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee that it is free of errors or interruptions. We may change or end features. We will announce material changes to these Terms in the app or on this page before they apply.

9. Liability

As far as the law allows, GoingDutch is not liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential damage
  • Disagreements between users
  • Losses from arrangements or payments between users
  • Purchases from partners
  • Content or behaviour of other users

10. Ending

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete Account). We may suspend or end an account in case of abuse or a breach of these Terms.

11. Governing law

Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands.
